my favorite enemy from halo, i love it how they made your own people mutate into the flood in front of your eyes in halo3, if one of your soldiers got biten, shot him before he turned into one of them, my favorite weapon against the flood is shotgun, also halo3 graphics lets the flood come to life

Yeah, its kinda tricky but, if you shot them in the body with the battle rifle around where the head is they drop.
It looks like the area the spore thing climb in explodes leaving a big whole. It counts as a head shot for your medals too.
